“Tails”, the amnesic OS

We love social media; They allow us to share everything that happens to us. However, at the same time, we are concerned to protect our privacy . Don’t steal it from us, we thought. Obviously we want to control what we share. We want to be masters of everything that surrounds us, but that is not always possible. It is not a matter of alarming anyone but our trace on the network can be followed with some ease since there are not a few websites that track our movements and store sensitive information about us. For the most suspicious of your privacy, there is Tails an operating system that makes you completely invisible. Tails is an operating system that can be carried on a USB and that, as stated by its own developers, “helps you navigate anonymously and bypass censorship almost anywhere you are and on any computer, but without leaving a trace unless you want to. It is an operating system designed entirely to be used from a DVD, USB memory or SD card, regardless of the original operating system of the computer ”. Based on the open source Linux , use the Tor software to navigate and maintain your anonymity, also, as we could read in the specialized portal Gizmodo, it is based on different programs such as Pretty Good Privacy or PGP or KeePassX password management system and Off-the-Record plug-in for encrypting chats. All this with the main mission of preserving your privacy and making you totally invisible to search engines and trackers on the web. Also, to give even greater guarantee of privacy, the creators of Tails ensure that the computer’s hard drive is never used, so the only storage space used is RAM. This is automatically deleted when the computer is turned off. This ensures that there will be no trace of what has been done. That is why its creators call it an “amnesiac” operating system. Obviously, but there are some doubts about Tails itself and the use that its creators can make of the information that it can store without its users knowing, if it does store them. In reality, practically everything that surrounds this operating system is a kind of secret since neither the identity of its developers is known . They say it is to keep this operating system out of the hands of governments … Conspiracy theories aside, Tails seems to be a good option for all those who want to keep their private life safe. Otherwise … maybe Edward Snowden would not be one of its most recognized users.
