The trivial of privacy

Protecting our privacy in a particularly exhibitionistic society is something that worries us all. Mobile applications have access to a large amount of sensitive information and, despite the continuous efforts of users and developers to manage them, it is not always possible to be safe. The ignorance of the limits of data protection and the small daily actions that we can all adopt is a point in favor of information “thieves”. education in this aspect is basic and there are many voices that are already demanding the entry into the classroom of a subject of digital culture . The entry of the mobile into the classrooms to learn how to use it, to protect privacy and to know how to reel off the information available on the network. Despite this need, and as long as there is no educational agreement that enables the curricular application of this subject, it must be private companies who, sometimes altruistically, provide educational resources that help us use the resources that we dispose of in a responsible manner. This is the case of Friendly Screens , an initiative that “has as its mission the promotion of the safe and healthy use of new technologies and the promotion of responsible digital citizenship in childhood and adolescence ”. In collaboration with Red.es and Telefónica, Orange, Vodafone and Yoigo , it has developed a mobile application specially designed to delve into responsible use. Raised on the basis of a Trivial Pursuit, SmartPrivial , is designed for an audience of 10 years and older and seeks, through specific questions, to clear up all doubts on six generic topics. The App raises the game based on responding appropriately about privacy, security, webcam, social networks, sexting and varieties , where it also delves into questions about gender violence and education for equality. Six categories that address all, or the vast majority, of the most common uses of new technologies. In order to be able to evaluate the progress in the game, the App offers a statistical analysis of the answers to know which categories should be reinforced by each participant. SmartPrivial is a free App and is available for both Android and iOS devices.
