Interview with King of App, the “WordPress” of apps

King of App, the “WordPress” of apps, is positioned as the standard for visual creation of mobile apps

Xavier Barata  but it has the same vision as WordPress, not only in what refers to modular architecture and open source, but in simply being “an arbiter of an ecosystem” in which third parties can create Plug-in modules for new functionalities, appearance issues or transversal services to help improve apps and their monetization.

As has often happened in all areas throughout history, the best inventions have arisen from a personal need. And this has been the case of King of App, a technology for creating mobile applications which was born three years ago from the need of a businessman in the world of advertising, Xavier Barata, who after not finding a standard content management system (CMS) for creating mobile apps, in the style of technologies such as WordPress for web creation, embarked on the development of one. This is how the King of App technology, which seeks to become a open standard so anyone can build mobile apps without having to write code and with a architecture very similar to that of WordPress, with themes that modify the appearance or functionality and “plug-in” modules that expand them for any need.

Recently, King of App has received support and funding from the European H2020 programme, which has described it as one of the 6 most promising tech startups, has renewed its image and relaunched its web and social media presence with active profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc., as well as a YouTube channel where you can find tutorials on their tools and educational or inspirational videos to create and improve your apps.
