King of App

The best apps of the year

Although there are still a few days left to close 2014, large companies are rushing these weeks to prepare and present their balance sheets. Recently we have seen how both Facebook, as Twitter, as Youtube have taught us the main themes of the year. So have the two major markets Apps And, it must be said, there have been few surprises.

In reality it is not that we are predictable but that the best Apps, and that has a lot to do with their usefulness, have been the most downloaded. Among the free ones it is clear that two big names stand out. On the one hand, and it is obvious, WhatsApp. We have the need to communicate and in that, despite the double blue check, there is no one who can cough -perhaps Telegram I'll get it someday.

The other big name among the Apps is Facebook. If one reigns in communication, the other does so in another great human need: sharing what we do. The “good” thing about Facebook is that this year it has placed two Apps on the podium of the most downloaded. Obviously the one of the social network itself, with more than 1,300 users, and also the messaging App, the Facebook Messenger. But it has done this by forcing users to do so by unlinking this service from the social network on mobile phones and tablets.

So far, no surprises and the confirmation that three of the four most downloaded Apps in the world belong to the same company presided over by the almost all-powerful Mark Zuckerberg. Only the Russian one Telegram has been able to sneak onto this podium thanks to its 50 million monthly users.

From there, it is also no surprise which Apps they configure the Top-10 of downloads this 2014: Google Maps, Instagram, Spotify, Shazam and Wallapop. And surely any of us has at least 9 of these Apps on our phone, whether it is an iPhone or an Android.

What does differ from one platform to another are what they consider to be the best apps available on Google Play or iTunes. For this reason, they have also created their own ranking.

For those responsible for Apple, this year, the best App has been Replay; a video editing application from photographs. For Android devices, there is no App of the Year and the choice has been made to highlight the best in each specific field. In this way, in this listing You can find Apps like Uber, a service recently banned in Spain; Wunderlist, so that no task is forgotten or the Image editing App Over.

Surely 2015 will bring us new surprises. Until then…See you in The Kingdom of Apps.
