Do you like to drive? And… Are you good at it?

What kind of driver are you? Really? You think you drive well? Well now you have the opportunity to participate in a study on driving habits among the population. Drive Smart will analyze our attitude behind the wheel to offer a faithful X-ray of what Spaniards are like when they get into their car.

Drive Smart The aim is to identify the different profiles of drivers. The idea is to look at everything from the efficient driver, who drives responsibly, to the more temperamental driver, who drives by accelerating and braking hard. In this way, it will be possible to quantify and, above all, find ways to improve our driving. Improvements whose aim is to contribute to road safety and, consequently, try to reduce accidents on the roads.

This App, promoted by the Institute University of Valencia Researcher in Traffic and Road Safety (INTRAS), together with the Center for Industrial Technology Development (CDTI) will try to answer questions such as: How do we drive? What mistakes or violations do we make on the road? What types of drivers exist? How can we improve our mobility or make it more efficient and safe?

And since undergoing studies is something uncomfortable for many, Drive Smart ensures complete confidentiality and anonymity to participants. The App is not intended to detect potential offenders, but to create a global portrait, so no personal information is requested for the installation or activation of the application. The only thing that this App will analyse are variables related to driving, braking, cornering, acceleration processes, etc.

In addition to these analyses, the app also aims to encourage drivers to be responsible behind the wheel. To do so, it uses a series of questions and messages with a motivating effect.

To participate in this study, all you have to do is download the Drive Smart App and activate it every time you get in the car. It works like a driving coach which monitors and analyses the user's behaviour at the wheel, and offers useful and personalised advice to correct any mistakes made. During the journey, the App analyses the driving manoeuvres in real time, which will ultimately produce the final report.
