10 Brilliant Apps Small Businesses Should Use

The smartphone boom has made these devices the protagonist almost everything we do in life – including business. Before you start a business, one thing you cannot miss is a bad credit score, experts suggest high risk merchant accounts to help you get started without having to face any financial risks. There are now more than 4.2 million applications worldwide and although most of them are for entertainment purposes, there are many programs that have been created specifically for entrepreneurs.

We have selected ten free mobile and web apps that can be great allies in business.

1. Evernote

Evernote is the most complete note taking application. The program, which allows you to create notes with text, hyperlinks, check-lists, photos and audios, surprises by its range of possibilities.

For example, a clothing designer can create notes with pictures of his new collection for his store, while a designer can use drawing tools to make a quick sketch. There are many tools to get more out of Evernote depending on your profession.  The app is available on iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

2. Google Drive

Google Drive is a tool which stores any file type via a virtual drive app or a web interface. It is essential for a small business to be able to access files from anywhere, and most importantly to maintain a secure backup.

It is also possible to share documents and folders with other collaborators and even to allow editing of the same file simultaneously.

3. InDinero

InDinero is an easy-to-use application to keep track of business cash flow and manage day-to-day finances; perfect for small business. It synchronizes with bank accounts and credit cards and helps the company to predict future cash flows based on the evolution of past cash flows.

The application offers an all-in-one solution for accounting, tax and payroll. This means that companies do not need to join a lot of different service providers and software products to meet all their needs – they can simply go to inDinero, which offers their services on top of proprietary software.

4. Slack

Slack is an excellent chat tool for entrepreneurs who work with technology. Like other messaging services, it allows you to create group conversations, which are useful for communicating between people involved in a project. But the main advantage of Slack is its file storage.

The program allows the entrepreneur to back up important business files and access them quickly without having to switch windows. To do this, you need to create a text shortcut, such as “expense worksheet”. When this shortcut is typed into a conversation, the file appears instantly in the window.

In addition, Slack interacts with social networks, cloud storage services, and other sites. The program is available for iOS, Android and has a beta version for Windows Phone.

5. Square

This application allows the company to receive payments via credit card through his smartphone. The only thing you need to make it work is an internet connection.

6. TripIt

TripIt from Concur Technologies, is the world’s highest-rated travel-organizing app. Perfect for entrepreneurs who travel a lot. The tool lets you organize travel plans on an itinerary from emails, such as hotel reservation and car rental. After getting started in 2006, the company was purchased in 2011 for $120 million by Concur Technologies.

7. Primer

Google launched an application for iOS and Android with free digital marketing classes for new entrepreneurs. The program includes daily lessons on branding, storytelling and SEO. New lessons are added weekly and the mobile app allows you to download the content and study even when you do not have access to internet.

8. Dropbox

Organizing important documents, such as invoices and contracts, is essential for any business. A good tip is to keep a virtual copy of these files in the cloud. There are many free storage options on the internet today, such as Google Drive, Apple’s iCloud, and Microsoft’s OneDrive but Dropbox is probably the one that has best adapted to mobile devices.

The application has a simple interface and allows the user to create shortcut buttons to store any file quickly – including offline.

9. 1Password

1Password is great for the entrepreneur who always needs to have passwords and document numbers at hand, but is worried about security risks. Developed to protect users’ information, the program allows the registration of access passwords, credit card data, documents and even secret notes. All information is protected by a unique password – which needs to be strong.

In addition to allowing the entrepreneur to not have to memorize all this data, 1Password protects data with 256-bit encryption, which is much safer than a notes application.

10. Asana

The purpose of the Asana application is to help teams organize their projects from start to finish. With Asana you can add, edit and comment tasks by opening conversations with your team. The application is free for groups of up to 15 members. There is a premium version for larger companies with other features.
